Calitabby Code of Conduct
Updated 2024-11-23Calitabby Network is intended to be an environment conducive of positive communication and collaboration between users. While Calitabby Network aims to promote free speech as much as possible, we ask that you follow some rules regarding what you communicate over the services. These rules are subject to change, and your feedback is welcome and encouraged!
Rules of discussion
- Be nice—even if you disagree, don't be hostile to other users
- Do not engage in name-calling or other ad hominem attacks; this includes slurs
- Keep conversations on topic for the space; move to another space if appropriate
- If you link to content on anti-user sites such as YouTube, Twitter/X, etc., consider linking an alternative frontend (e.g for YouTube, an instance of Invidious)
- Spaces within the network, such as Matrix rooms, may impose their own rules in addition to this Code of Conduct
- Bots (user accounts controlled by automated software) should not be added to spaces without permission from their operators
Prohibited content
- NSFW content is prohibited outside of explicitly designated spaces
- Sexual depictions of animals or underaged humans, including drawn and computer-generated content
- Advocating for exclusion, harassment or violence against any individual or group, such as by race, gender or financial standing
- Promoting authoritarianism and associated movements, such as Nazism
- Non-consensual dissemination of an individual's personal information, commonly referred to as doxxing
- Blatantly false information or content that is designed to mislead others
- Spam and other unsolicited communications—this includes advertising or promoting projects, services or goods outside of proper channels
- Malware, ad/spyware, and to a lesser extent proprietary software that is not clearly labeled as such
- Copyrighted material you do not have permission to redistribute—we do not have the resources to fight a potential lawsuit, sorry!
- Any content that would result in legal or other issues to the network, such as defederation/blocklisting
Moderation
- In the event a user violates this Code of Conduct or space-specific rules, moderation discretion is given to network and room moderators respectively
- We assume each user is engaging in good faith, and will typically provide warnings before further action. Ignoring these warnings may result in removal or a ban
- Extreme cases—such as repeated violations across spaces, or violation of the CSAM or doxxing rules—may result in network-wide suspension
- Appeals should be directed to the moderator who issued the action; a second appeal may be directed to a higher-level administrator of the space or network. Network moderators do not handle appeals regarding moderation of user-operated spaces
- Creating alt accounts to evade moderation actions is prohibited
